Get soaked at Pleshey!
24th Jan 2018
According to retreat conductor Evelyn Underhill (1875-1941), the spiritual life is “a life soaked through by a sense of God’s reality”.
On the brink of Lent Revd Ann Coleman, the chair of our spiritual direction group, is leading a day at Pleshey, our Retreat House, when the soaking process can begin. Find out more and download a booking form.
“I am looking forward to being with others on this retreat day,” says Ann. "Evelyn Underhill experienced Pleshey as a place in which she met with God in prayer. My hopes for this retreat are that, as we meet in God’s presence together at Pleshey, we will be refreshed through the soaking of His Holy Spirit and be open to God growing us as Christian disciples in Lent.”
The retreat will take place on 13 February 2018.
- Prayers compiled by Eveyln Underhill for retreats at Pleshey between 1924 and 1938 have been published this month for the first time. “Evelyn Underhill’s Prayer Book”, edited by Robyn Wrigley-Carr with a foreword by Eugene Peterson, is available from publishers SPCK and from our Bookshop.
