Leytonstone church is the first place Desmond Tutu images will be seen outside South Africa

24th Sep 2014

A photographic exhibition capturing moments from the life of Desmond Tutu will open at St Margaret's church in Leytonstone.

Revd Neil-Allan Walsh, Priest-in-Charge of Leytonstone St Margaret with St Columba, said:

"It will be the first time this exhibition will be on display outside South Africa. We look forward to hosting the exhibition in Leytonstone."

The images are by Sumaya Hisham, a photographer based in Cape Town.

"'#TUTU, a man at prayer, a man at work and a man at rest' is my first solo photographic exhibition.

"It celebrates the life of South Africa's beloved 'Arch', Desmond Mpilo Tutu.

"These images capture moments from his very busy daily life and offer us a glimpse into his world."

The picture, courtesy of Sumaya Hisham, shows Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu on his way to his favourite coffee shop for breakfast following his weekly Friday morning Holy Communion held at St George's Cathedral in Cape Town, South Africa.
