Plough Sunday blessing supports farming community

10th Jan 2018

A vintage plough will be led into Thaxted Church on Plough Sunday for blessing as a sign of support for the farming community. Plough Sunday Church Services traditionally mark the start of the agricultural year.

“Farming practices have changed over the years but support for those who work on the land is as necessary now as in the past,” says our Agricultural Chaplain Revd Janet Nicholls.

The plough will be blessed by Robin King, the Archdeacon of Stansted, on Sunday 14 January 2018. The Thaxted Morris Men and members of the local farming community will be present for the Service at 11.00 am and this will be followed by a Ploughman's Lunch to which all are welcome.
