A vocation to be a churchwarden

Churchwardens play a fascinating, vital, fulfilling role in the life of the church.

Churchwardens play a fascinating, vital, fulfilling role in the life of the church.

If you would be interested in exploring becoming a churchwarden, your first step is to approach the present wardens of your parish.

They may be able to delegate some of the responsibilities they hold (see below). Your Vicar or Priest in Charge, your Archdeacon, and your Area Team may also help - or if in doubt, you could always e-mail the training team.

Churchwardens are not appointed by Vicars, they are elected annually by the parishioners (those who live in the parish plus those who are on the electoral role of the church) at an Annual Meeting.

The form on the link below has an explanation of who is allowed to serve as a warden; or your local church may have a different form which they are using, to collect the same information.
