The Bishop of Chelmsford is looking to appoint a new Archdeacon of Southend.
The appointee will be a committed team player who can handle the detail of an Archdeacon’s portfolio and will also be an able pastor who can inspire and lead the church in mission.
As a senior and strategic leader in this vast and diverse diocese, the Archdeacon will be a member of the Bishop of Chelmsford’s Leadership Team and will also work alongside the Bishop of Bradwell and the Archdeacon of Chelmsford serving the Bradwell Episcopal Area.
The role of Archdeacon is a complex one and the appointee will need to draw on an unusual level of discernment, emotional intelligence, resilience and good humour in order to thrive in an environment of change, ambiguity, diversity and complexity where difficult decisions have to be made.
We are not looking for a hero, but rather an open human being, committed to our shared diocesan values, who walks humbly with Christ and will inspire others to do the same.
Deadline for Applications: Friday 25 October at 12 noon.
Interviews: Wednesday 20 November.
