Associate Priest (House for Duty), Wanstead Parish
Location: Wanstead, London Borough of Redbridge
We are praying for a spirit filled person to join us in the village of Wanstead, on the edge of Epping Forest, just a short journey from central London by tube.
You will thrive when you are both teaching and preaching, be down to earth and approachable and enjoy working as part of a team. Although we are a liberal, Anglo Catholic parish we are open minded about church tradition and are looking for a fellow disciple of any tradition who will both challenge us and help us to grow in our reading and understanding of scripture and in our ability to communicate the Gospel afresh to different generations. Experience in helping to nurture lay vocations, including lay leadership of worship and leading online services is important. We would be very happy to receive applications from candidates from a wide range of ministerial backgrounds.
The parish of Wanstead is a lively London parish within the Diocese of Chelmsford with a Church of England aided primary school, two historic churches, an active choir, two part time youth workers, a pastoral worker, a good number of lay worship leaders, two self-supporting associate priests and a full time Rector.
We are excited about growing our ministry team and hope that together we will enjoy reaching out in word and deed to more and to different people, growing daily as the Body of Christ in Wanstead through discipleship, evangelism, and mission.
The parish has a choice of two houses to offer in central Wanstead, dependent on the number of days of ministry offered. One house has two bedrooms and one sitting room and the other house has three bedrooms and two sitting rooms. Both have a small garden and are just moments from the shops and from Wanstead’s two underground stations.
Teaching, equipping and helping us and others to grow in discipleship and evangelism through leading by example, regular preaching, Bible study, nurture groups and faith courses and growing lay vocations and lay leadership and also delivering online services.
An ability to work with all ages and to take an active part in the varied life of a diverse parish.
