Part-time Priest-in-Charge, St Barnabas and St James, Walthamstow
Location: Walthamstow, London E17
Could you lead and guide us in our ministry? We are a small but growing congregation looking for a priest in charge. Our mass is celebrated in the Anglo – Catholic tradition and we are keen to expand and reach out to more people to fill our beautiful grade II* listed church.
We are situated in the heart of a vibrant, exciting and multi-cultural area, just a short 10-minute walk from the centre of Walthamstow, East London, but in a quiet, leafy residential street. Our congregation is extremely diverse. We are proud to be the spiritual home of the largest Igorot (Filipino) community in London; many travel to the area to attend our church. We also have church members from many other ethnic backgrounds.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to:
- help us continue our strong tradition of welcome to all.
- help us develop our new youth ministry in an area full of families and schools
- help us to develop our outreach to older members of our community
- Encourage us in our music ministry
- explore new ways of enabling us to grow in faith: nurturing and expanding our congregation
This post is part-time (0.5 stipend) and, regrettably, comes without accommodation or housing allowance. It would therefore suit someone with their own accommodation and an existing part-time church or secular post that would be compatible with the demands of this parish role.
Potential applicants are invited to contact the Archdeacon of West Ham, the Venerable Elwin Cockett - a.westham@chelmsford.anglican.org 020 8989 8557
.
Closing Date: 22 January 2021
