Priest in Charge at Great Dunmow and Barnston
Location: North Essex
Is God calling you to ministry in this lovely part of North West Essex?
The two churches in our benefice serve a growing market town and a small village nearby. It is an attractive and friendly place to live and work and you will be surrounded by supportive and enthusiastic church members. Recent housing developments have resulted in a rapidly growing population which has not engaged with the local churches, creating an exciting outreach opportunity.
We are looking for someone who:
- will develop the gifts and foster discipleship within our church communities and who will lead us on the next stage of our journey
- shares our enthusiasm for outreach, to make Christ better known in our parishes and to welcome all into the life of the church
- will nurture our churches, leading different styles of prayer and worship and building on our tradition
- has enthusiasm for and skill in bringing families into the heart of our churches
Our Parish Profile contains more detailed information about this exciting opportunity. It can be downloaded using the link below.
The Deanery has been having discussions about pastoral reorganisation around Dunmow. We are aiming to create a new Team Ministry along the A120 parishes (matching the area encompassed by the Connect 120 project mentioned in the benefice profile). The team will consist of the Team Rector (this post) and a Team Vicar (who will replace the incumbents of Takeley & Little Canfield and Stansted, Farnham & Birchanger, both due to retire within the next year). The SSM curate at Stansted (originally from Dunmow) hopes to operate as an SSM across the whole Team once her curacy is completed.
You are encouraged to contact the following to discuss the opportunity:
the Archdeacon of Stansted, The Ven. Robin King (to email him, click HERE)
or the Area Dean, The Rev. Helen Pelly (to email her, click HERE)
Two days of visits and interviews will be held on 24th and 25th November.
An application form can be obtained from the Archdeacon of Stansted (to email him, click HERE), and applications should be received by 6,00pm on Sunday 8th November 2020.
