Rural ministry in the Diocese of Chelmsford
Location: Rural mid-Essex, NW of Chelmsford
Can you re-imagine rural ministry, rather than simply run faster?
Are you a priest who's excited by rural ministry, and motivated by all its possibilities?
We're looking for a priest who would be excited to see what can be done in this rural corner of God’s kingdom, embracing some wonderful communities in mid Essex.
This is to be a newly formed group of ten churches (but not ten parishes) that have already been exploring and implementing ways to work closer together, changing processes and activities, in order that the role of parish priest is one that is joy-filled life-enhancing and sustainable for everyone in ministry across the villages.
This is a strategic role that will have an impact beyond the boundaries of the benefice, into the wider Diocese and potentially beyond. Work has already begun with the help of the Area rural team, the Mission and Ministry Adviser, the Rural Dean and Archdeacon, and that help will continue to be available. We don’t need someone to be all things to all people and be running everything, but we do need a priest to make the work more focussed.
If you are creative, resilient, confident of your own belovedness, without the need to guard your own ministry too jealously, then we’d love to hear from you!
