Part Time Cook

The Chelmsford Diocesan House of Retreat is a 26-bedroom retreat house situated in the village of Pleshey (7 miles north of Chelmsford). We offer full-board residential retreats and quiet days for up to 30 guests. We are looking a Cook to join our small kitchen team to provide nutritious and well-balanced meals to guests and visitors.

Salary: £15,509.00 per annum (based £11.93ph), subject to qualifications and experience
Hours: Part-time role working up to 25 hours per week
Location: The Retreat House, Pleshey, Chelmsford

We are seeking someone to: -

  • Prepare, cook, and serve home cooked dishes of high quality that are well presented.
  • Have full working knowledge of dishes regarding ingredients, cooking methods and correct portion sizes and apply in accordance to menu requirements.
  • In conjunction with other cooks operate effective stock rotation and assist the Kitchen Supervisor with monitoring stock levels to identify stock to be ordered.
  • Adhere to and promote all food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety regulations in all areas of the kitchen

About you: -

  • Experience working in a similar kitchen environment, and have a passion for fresh, and well-presented homestyle food
  • Well organised with excellent attention to detail and have good communications skills
  • In sympathy with the Christian faith and the objectives of the House of Retreat and the Diocese of Chelmsford.
