General Manager, Diocesan House of Retreat

The Church of England Diocese of Chelmsford is seeking to recruit a General Manager for our retreat house in the historic and beautiful village of Pleshey, 9 miles north of Chelmsford in Essex.

We’re seeking an exceptional candidate who will manage our house and staff in keeping with our spiritual ethos, providing the best possible experience for our guests. You’ll be able to promote the House to new and existing guests with the aim of raising the profile of the House and increasing revenue, to ensure the long-term future of this special place.  

The successful applicant will have a proven track record of experience in hospitality or a similar field and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders from across the Diocese and beyond while achieving business outcomes. There is an occupational requirement that the person appointed is either from the Anglican Church or a member of a church in full communion with the Church of England who has an appreciation of the breadth of spirituality and tradition in the Church of England.

Circa £30,000, subject to experience. More may be offered for an exceptional candidate.

A 4-bedroom house (former vicarage) immediately adjacent to the Retreat House will be provided.

Non-contributory company pension scheme and in-service life cover

25 days holiday, rising to 29 after 5 years’ service
