Confirmation - taking the first steps of faith Confirmation is the preparation for a life-long journey of faith in Jesus Christ. Living in the world as a Christian requires an 'apprenticeship'. Each year about 900 people in East London and Essex become Christian apprentices by making the decision to be confirmed. Christians celebrate personal growth and the growth of a healthy Church community. They want new members to be equipped and empowered to take their place in the Church with responsibility and confidence. Confirmation is a process in which the whole Church family takes part. As a candidate for Confirmation you need to be ‘ready with your own mouth and from your own heart to affirm your faith in Jesus Christ’. This is a whole Church community affair with the whole family being invited to share in the candidate’s decision, by promising to welcome ‘and uphold them in their life in Christ’.
