There are many ways to get to the Diocesan Offices in Chelmsford
Train
Chelmsford is on the main line between London Liverpool Street and Norwich, about 30 minutes from London. The office is a 5 minute walk from the station. On leaving Chelmsford station, head down Duke Street towards the city centre, and cut through the Cathedral grounds on your left. Follow the path straight past the cathedral entrance, cross the road and the Diocesan Offices are directly opposite you.
Bus
Chelmsford City bus station is adjacent to the train station.
Bike
Cycle parking is available in the courtyard at the Diocesan Office.
Car
The postcode for the Diocesan Office for SatNav use is CM1 1AT.
Please note that the junction of Duke Street and Tindal Square is currently closed to traffic driving towards New Street. To access New Street and Waterloo Road by car, please approach from the Victoria Road end of New Street.
Park & Ride
Chelmsford is served by two Park & Ride facilities which provide a relatively low cost alternative to parking in the City Centre, and buses run frequently using dedicated bus lanes:
- Sandon, just off the A12
- Chelmer Valley, on the north side of the City
City Centre Parking
There are two public pay and display car parks off Waterloo Lane (behind the office), plus on street parking including spaces reserved for blue badge holders. There is also a larger pay and display car park at the Chelmsford Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre on Victoria Road, which is less than a 5 minute walk to the office.
Visitors with restricted mobility travelling by car (blue badge holders)
There are a number of designated Blue Badge parking spaces on Waterloo Lane (left hand side). The route to the office from these spaces is via the pavement up Waterloo Lane and along New Street.
However, drivers with restricted mobility are welcome to park on the forecourt directly outside the Diocesan Office, subject to prior arrangement with Reception (01245 294400). Reception should also be contacted for any other special assistance if required. Additionally Blue Badge holders may be able to park on New Street outside the Diocesan Office subject to normal blue badge restrictions.
