The Bishop of Chelmsford the Rt Rev'd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani has issued a statement after the Green Party adopted a motion declaring Zionism to be racism. The statement reads as follows:
"I am deeply concerned by the Green Party’s decision to adopt a motion declaring Zionism to be racism, and by the impact this will have on Jewish communities across the country. At a time of heightened antisemitism and profound anxiety for British Jews, this will leave many feeling further isolated and unwelcome in our public life. Political parties have a responsibility to ensure that Jewish people can participate fully and without fear of discrimination. I stand alongside Jewish communities who will be deeply hurt by this decision."
