Plough Sunday at Thaxed Church, Thaxed
On Sunday, Thaxted Parish Church celebrated Plough Sunday with members of the farming community from across Essex.
Revd Canon Janet Nicholls, our Diocesan Rural Adviser and Agricultural Chaplain blessed the plough (and the tractors), a tradition that goes back to medieval times, and the service was followed by Morris dancing and the Essex Young Farmers tractor-run.
