Sunday 8 February was the first Combined Choirs Evensong as part of a collaborative project between St Edward the Confessor, Romford and Chelmsford Cathedral, aiming to build bridges and relationships between worshipping communities in our Diocese.

The Chelmsford Cathedral choir joined the St Edward’s choir singing music by Stanford, Tallis and Wood, and the preacher was the Very Revd Dr Jessica Martin, Dean of Chelmsford. The Director of Music at Chelmsford Cathedral, Emma Gibbins, said:

"It was lovely to get to know the Romford choir, clergy and congregation over tea and an array of delicious cakes, kindly provided by them…!

"Everyone is looking forward to the next stage of the project, which will be a combined choirs Evensong at the Cathedral on Sunday April 26. The Romford choir will be joining us again, at which we’ll be singing music by Sumsion, Dyson and S.S. Wesley’s great Easter anthem “Blessed be the God and Father”, composed for Hereford Cathedral choir to sing on Easter Sunday 1834."
