12 March to Easter Day

Bishop Guli will complete her ministry as Bishop of Loughborough. Legal authority for oversight of Chelmsford Diocese will remain delegated to Bishop Peter until 19 April.

19 April onwards

Bishop Guli will begin her ministry as Bishop of Chelmsford. She will move to Chelmsford Diocese with her family during the summer.

Early September

It is hoped that the public Welcome and Installation service for Bishop Guli in Chelmsford Cathedral will take place in early September and details will be confirmed in due course.

Following the announcement of the timetable, Bishop Guli said:

Since my appointment in December, I’ve had the opportunity to start to get to know people in Chelmsford Diocese and to learn more about this vibrant, diverse and wonderful part of the world. Over the coming months, I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know many more people as we begin our ministry together.

“We face many challenges in our churches and communities, not least as a result of the pandemic and I know that many are feeling weary. However, I want to acknowledge the huge difference that churches have made in their communities in Essex, East London and beyond over the last 12 months; providing pastoral care and spiritual guidance to the lonely, bereaved and anxious; giving practical support through foodbanks and night shelters; and leading worship creatively and lovingly where physical gatherings have not been possible. This gives me great hope for the future. As I said when I was appointed in December, our task is to be faithful, to share the good news of Jesus Christ and to continue serving the world; to work well together and in partnership with others. In doing this we will discover the extent of God’s love.”
