This year, the 30th annual United Nations conference on climate change is taking place in the Amazon in Brazil between 10 and 21 November.
Bishop Marinez Bassotto is the Bishop of the Amazon. In this interview with Bishop Saulo de Barros, Honorary Assistant Bishop in Chelmsford Diocese and Priest In Charge of St Martin Plaistow, Bishop Marinez talks about what she sees as signs of hope, explains who will be involved in the various meetings taking place during the COP, describes what is happening to the environment of the Amazon, and sets out how she thinks the Church in the UK could pray and use its prophetic voice to raise awareness and call for change.
Please share this video as widely as you can to support understanding across the Diocese of what COP30 means and the challenges for Brazil and the indigenous people of the Amazon.
