Over a period of roughly two years, from 2023 to 2025, the Rev'd Jonathan Evens, Area Dean of Basildon and Rector of Wickford and Runwell wrote a series of five long poems.
The poems were dedicated to thin places and sacred spaces in Essex and East London, each of which are also located within the Diocese of Chelmsford.
Writing about the five chosen locations for his poems, Jonathan says:
"Barking, Bradwell, Broomfield, Pleshey and Runwell - are all places in the Diocese of Chelmsford where I have had that experience of the veil between heaven and earth seeming exceptionally thin or lifted altogether and, therefore, are, for me, places where heaven and earth, past, present and future seem to be intermingled."
