The Rt Revd Roger Morris, Bishop of Colchester

Bishop Roger is the Diocesan Lead for the Environment, with oversight of all of our environment-focused work. He chairs both the Diocesan Environment Group and the Net Zero Carbon Management Board.

Diocesan Environmental Officer

The Revd Sandra Eldridge 

Sandra is the Diocesan Environmental Officer with day-to-day responsibility for working with colleagues in communities across the Diocese to address practical, justice and theological issues related to the environment. This reflects the Diocese’s commitments to the Fifth Mark of Mission as being central to its life, work and mission, to reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030, and to challenging the fundamental injustices related to our current environmental crises. Sandra does this work in a voluntary capacity. She is a member of the Diocesan Environment Group and the Net Zero Carbon Management Board and works closely with both groups.

Paul Thomson

Net Zero Carbon Officer

Paul Thomson

Paul is our Net Zero Carbon Officer. His primary role is to work with colleagues and across all communities in the Diocese, to support our journey towards Net Zero Carbon, implementing the Diocesan Net Zero Carbon Action plan alongside learning what does and does not work and advising on practical issues and funding. Paul works closely with Sandra and with the Net Zero Carbon Management Board. Paul is a member of both this Board and the Diocesan Environmental Group, and is paid via national Church of England funds.

Deanery Environmental Advocates

The Deanery Environmental Advocates encourage churches in their deaneries with Eco church and on their paths to carbon net zero. They also encourage networking in the deanery.
