People from across Chelmsford Diocese gathered at Chelmsford Cathedral on Sunday 22 September to give thanks for Archdeacon Elwin's ministry and to say farewell to him and his wife Sue as they prepare to retire in Somerset.
The Venerable Elwin Cockett has served in Chelmsford Diocese for the past thirty-three years, seventeen as Archdeacon of West Ham.

During the service and Indian worship song was played. Elwin was born Kotagiri, Tamil Nadu, in India, where his father was working as a missionary doctor.
