New Women’s Ministry Adviser and Disabilities’ Adviser appointed

13 April 2022

Bishop Guli has appointed the Revd Lynn Hurry to the role of Women’s Ministry Adviser and the Revd John Saxon to the role of Disabilities’ Adviser for Chelmsford Diocese.

Lynn is currently Vicar at Latton St Mary in the Harlow Archdeaconry where she has served since 2008. John is a Team Vicar in Saffron Walden where he has served since 2020. Lynn and John will continue to serve in their current roles in parish ministry.

Commenting on the appointments Bishop Guli said:

I’m delighted that both Lynn and John have accepted my invitation to take on these important roles for our diocese. They will each bring a wealth of experience from parish ministry and provide important advice to the Bishop’s Leadership Team and others. Please join me in praying for them as they begin their new ministries. They will need the support of colleagues and the time to build a small team of volunteers and to identify priorities for their work.”

The Revd Lynn Hurry said:

It’s a great privilege to be invited by Bishop Guli to be the Women’s Ministry Adviser for the Diocese. As I take up this position I will seek to advise and support women on a range of issues, working together to make the Church a place where all women can flourish in their callings. Part of my role will be to develop a small team to be advocates on behalf of women clergy. This team and I will also brief Bishops and Senior staff on issues faced by ordained women, and help develop best practice, where women are encouraged and enabled.”

The Revd John Saxon said:

I am pleased to take up the challenge of this new role.  Having previously worked in a school for children with special educational needs and disabilities, I know the importance of giving all people the best opportunities possible.  I hope to support all in ensuring the knowledge, resources and understanding is in place for clergy, licensed ministers and congregations in the Chelmsford Diocese.  I would love to hear from anyone who would wish to help with this task.”

Lynn and John will gladly work with existing Area Advisers and others willing to support these important ministries across our diocese.
