All Saints Church in Rayne, Essex hosted a Picnic in the Park

17 December 2024

During October half term, All Saints Church in Rayne hosted Picnic in the Park at their local park and offered free picnic lunches to children in their local community.

Picnic in the Park

Picnic in the Park is held each week during school holidays. Michele Harris, Children and Families Lead at All Saints Church explains how the event began and how it continues to help families in the local community.

“We started Picnic in the Park two years ago and our aim was to support families within our village in a time of great financial struggle. As a church we wanted to become part of our community, so we offered free picnic lunches to primary school aged children and their siblings.

“At our first Picnic in the Park we gifted away 17 lunches and this October half term we gifted 55 lunches.

"The outcome has been beyond our wildest dreams and prayers and is indeed a blessing. The church and the community have supported us by way of monetary donations or donating food items.

“We have been fortunate to acquire several grants, and we continue to self-fund. Our ministry team and church are working on building relationships with the local community; we have had several baptisms and are looking to watching our church Growing Good!”
