Chelmsford Diocese Rural Adviser and Agricultural Chaplain, the Revd Canon Janet Nicholls has today been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Essex.
Speaking about her appointment, Janet said:
"It is a great honour to be appointed to support the Lord Lieutenant, Jennifer Tolhurst, in her incredible work in representing His Majesty the King in Essex.
"I am especially looking forward to the opportunities the Deputy Lieutenant role offers to recognise and affirm the activities of voluntary organisations. As Rural Adviser and Agricultural Chaplain, I regularly meet Christians, who, inspired by their faith in Jesus Christ, dedicate themselves to serving others. Sometimes the invaluable work undertaken by committed volunteers can go unrecognised. I therefore welcome the prospect of working with the Lord Lieutenant to celebrate the positive contributions that volunteers make to the wellbeing of the people who live and work in Essex."
The Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt Revd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani has congratulated Janet on her appointment saying:
“Janet’s appointment as a Deputy Lieutenant of Essex is a great tribute to the high regard in which she is held and the significant contribution she has made in her ministry to the rural communities of our Diocese. I know that there are many people who have worked with and been supported by Janet who will join me in warmly congratulating her.”
Janet will continue in her role as Chelmsford Diocese Rural Adviser and Agricultural Chaplain alongside being a Deputy Lieutenant.
