Meadgate Church has its origins deeply rooted in Children’s and Youth ministry having started as a Sunday School for the children of Meadgate estate in the 1960’s and we continue our commitment to young people. The focus of this role is to work for the flourishing of our Children and Youth in the challenging environment of contemporary culture.

We are passionate about building positive relationships with children and young people that bring about development of faith and transformation of character. Our programme places children and young people at the centre of Church life both midweek and on Sunday Mornings.


It is an occupational requirement (Equality Act – Part 1 Schedule 9) that the post holder is a committed Christian with a living and active Christian faith.  The Children and Youth Minister is part of the Ministry Leadership Team of Meadgate Church.


The team consists of clergy, catering outreach workers, a Communities and Pastoral worker, Administration and Maintenance staff. They work from Meadgate Church which is centred in two buildings in the Meadgate Estate in Great Baddow , Essex. The church runs a five day a week community café which provides a vital and dynamic daily link with many people from the community.

The Children’s and Youth Minister will employed by the PCC and report to the Rector, who is responsible for the supervision, development, and management of their work

The successful candidate will be:

  • A committed Christian with a desire to share the Gospel with young people
  • A creative thinker
  • Experienced in youth and or children’s work in a church setting
  • Confident and willing to lead all age worship with the team.
  • Self motivated and able to work effectively in a team.
  • Able to work with children and young people in a world of diversity.
