Join a new movement of people who pray, study and act together for the common good

The newly launched St. Martin's Centre for Spirituality and Social Justice (CSSJ) has developed a series of contributor led quiet days, retreats, seminars, workshops and lectures intended to deepen awareness of and commitment to Christian spirituality, discipleship and social justice among lay and ordained participants in the tradition of Anglican Social Thought.

The newly launched St. Martin's Centre for Spirituality and Social Justice (CSSJ) is based in the Church of England parish of Becontree South, Dagenham, in the Diocese of Chelmsford. It is financed with Church of England Strategic Development Funding.

Events programme 2024/25

Events are open to all and free to attend. The Centre's activities are intended to deepen awareness of and commitment to Christian spirituality, discipleship and social justice in the tradition of Anglican Social Thought among lay and ordained participants. The Centre is also open to individuals and groups for quiet days, day retreats and meetings.

All events take place at Saint Martin's Church, Dagenham, RM9 6UX.

Social Justice Talks: 'Migration - Bridges not Borders?'

Join the Bishop of Chelmsford, The Rt Rev'd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani and Jacqueline Broadhead, Co-Director of the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) and Director, Global Exchange on Migration and Diversity at the University of Oxford, as they debate the rights and wrongs of territorial borders in building just societies.

Contemplative Justice: the place of prayer in the struggle for liberation

Come join us as we explore how prayer can empower and guide us in our fight for justice and liberation.

Christmas Lecture: Solidarity, A Global Crisis?

Join CAFOD's Executive Director Christine Allen to explore challenges and opportunities in work to eradicate poverty globally in 2025.
