People from across Chelmsford Diocese gathered at Chelmsford Cathedral on Sunday 29th September to give thanks to God for our farmers, and for the food produced on the land of our diocese.
The Bishop of Bradwell, the Rt Rev Adam Atkinson preached the sermon and representatives from the farming community across Chelmsford Diocese participated in the service.
Marriages the Millers were also present in celebration of their bicentenary and Director James Marriage spoke about their 200 year heritage of milling Essex wheat into flour.
Commenting after the service, Chelmsford Diocese Agricultural Chaplain and Rural Chaplain, the Rev Canon Janet Nicholls said:
“During challenging times for our farming community, it was truly humbling to witness our cathedral filled with praise and thanksgiving at the County Harvest Service. I’m grateful to everyone who contributed to the service, ensuring that those involved in the life-sustaining field-to-fork activity of our diocese sensed our affirmation and God’s blessing.”
