young leaders service in the Cathedral young leaders service in the Cathedral

Congratulations to our new Young Leaders

5 June 2023

Seven young people were recently commissioned by Bishop Roger, to be young leaders in their parishes and worshipping communities.

The commissioning service took place at Chelmsford Cathedral for those who had completed the Diocese of Chelmsford’s Growing Young Leaders course.

The service was attended by friends and family of the young people and The Right Reverend Roger Morris, the Bishop of Colchester, led a talk exploring the Cathedral.

Our Growing Young Leaders Course seeks to encourage young people aged 13 and above in our churches to engage with ministry and to build their leadership skills. The course gives young people the opportunity to spend 6 months serving in leadership roles within in their local church communities.

Diocese of Chelmsford Youth Adviser, Charley Day, said:

“We had a fantastic time journeying through this year’s Growing Young Leaders course with an amazing group of young people. The commissioning service was a brilliant service led by the young people themselves. Thank you to all the young people and all those who continue to mentor, support and encourage them in their ongoing ministries!”
