St Margaret with St Columba, Leytonstone is bringing the local community together through bingo.
The church hosts their popular Community Bingo Night every two months, where people come together for an evening of fun and laughter.
Participants pay £10 for a ticket which includes six games of bingo and refreshments.
The role of bingo caller and host belongs to the Revd Neil-Allan Walsh, Vicar at St Margaret’s.
Revd Neil says:
“Leytonstone is in an area of regeneration, and we wanted to do something that would bring the community together. We decided to start a community bingo night and we’ve been running these events for nearly two years. They are increasingly popular with around 70 people attending.
“People have fun, and nobody goes home empty handed! It’s an opportunity to build connections with people that may not regularly attend church and it’s a chance for local people to socialise and connect with one another. It’s much more than just playing bingo; it’s about building community and serving our community.”
All proceeds raised through the community bingo nights go to St Margaret’s church and help support other missional projects run by the church including a community lunch club and pop-up shop.
