During the October half term break, a group of twelve teachers and school leaders spent a week working alongside teaching staff in schools in the Kenya as part of the Diocese of Chelmsford’s link diocese partnership with the Diocese of Embu, Kirinyaga, Mbeere and Meru in the Mount Kenya East Region.
The group were also joined by two diocesan Schools advisers, Julie Sarti and Heather Tetchner.
The teachers involved in the visit to Kenya had spent time developing projects based on one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, both in our own schools and in our partner schools in Kenya.
Diocesan Schools Adviser, Julie Sarti said:
“It was an incredible privilege to be involved in this trip to Kenya. We learnt so much from our Kenyan colleagues in our partnership schools about the curriculum they deliver with such creativity and commitment. We learnt about resilience and the role of faith in these schools and communities, that are supported by the Anglican Church of Kenya. We also learnt about the things we have in common, as we all strive to nurture and educate our children, to support them to flourish.”
