The Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt Rev’d Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani, has announced that the next Area Dean of Waltham Forest will be the Rev’d Tim Scott.

Tim is currently Associate Priest at St Mary’s Walthamstow and has served the Barking Episcopal Area for periods since 1987.
Commenting on Tim’s appointment, Bishop Guli said:
“I am grateful to Tim for accepting my invitation to become Area Dean of Waltham Forest and I wish him every blessing as he takes on the additional responsibilities. Tim is well equipped to serve in this important role supporting our church leaders in their ministry to the communities across the Deanery. I would also like to express my thanks to Sue Lucas for all that she contributed as Area Dean of Waltham Forest prior to taking on her new role as the Archdeacon of Southend.”
The Waltham Forest Deanery is in the Barking Episcopal Area and the Bishop of Barking, the Rt Rev’d Lynne Cullens said:
“Tim becoming Area Dean is good news for the parishes and worshipping communities in Waltham Forest. Tim brings a wealth of experience of local parish ministry in the Barking Episcopal Area and more generally, and I’m very grateful to him for accepting this additional responsibility. I know that Tim will be committed to this work and well supported by all who serve in our church communities.”
Commenting on his appointment, Rev’d Tim Scott said:
“I am delighted and honoured to be asked to be the next Area Dean of Waltham Forest and I look forward with excitement to serving, together with my lay and ordained colleagues, the Deanery as best as I can. Having spent 13 years as a priest in the Deanery from 1989-2002, including as an Assistant Area Dean, it has been a joy to return to ministry in the Deanery just over 18 months ago. Waltham Forest is an exciting and fascinating place with great diversity and rapid change. This is a time of both real opportunity and some challenge for the Deanery and I feel privileged to be Area Dean at this time.”
Tim will be licensed and commissioned as Area Dean of Waltham Forest later this month.
