Working hours: This is a fixed term role initially funded through the ’Believing in Barking’ DIP programme for 36 months, 0.6 FTE, 21 hours, ideally over 3 days, other working patterns may be considered in line with the requirements of the role
Salary: In the region of £20,000 per annum (FTE £33,335) Subject to qualifications and experience.

The Estates Churches Mission Advisor (Barking Episcopal Area) is a pivotal new role focused on strengthening and supporting mission and ministry within estates communities across the Barking Episcopal Area, aligning with the ’Believing in Barking’ programme. Rooted locally, the post holder will support leaders and churches working in estates ministry, helping to create learning communities, share good practice, and encourage missional innovation appropriate to estates contexts.
While the core remit is confined to the Barking Area, the Estates Churches Mission Advisor will also convene the Diocesan Estates Churches Network—bringing together estates-focused practitioners from every part of the Diocese of Chelmsford to share learning, foster innovation, and connect with national networks.
We are seeking someone with passion and commitment for estates ministry with experience at incumbent or equivalent within an Estates context. You will have strong leadership skills, with evidence of transformational development of churches, communities and individuals, experience of collaborative working in challenging urban/estates contexts and the ability to motivate and inspire others including building impactful coaching relationships across an area.
There is a genuine occupational requirement for the job holder to be an ordained , and an active communicant member in good standing within the Church of England or of a Church which is in Communion with the Church of England, or a Church that is a member of the Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, Churches Together in England, or the Evangelical Alliance.
