A statement from the Bishop of Chelmsford on the first anniversary of the 7 October attacks

7 October 2024

A Statement from the Bishop of Chelmsford:

"One year on from the horrific attacks on Israel, I will be praying for all those who lost loved ones, for those who are still held hostage today, and for their families.

"The unspeakable acts of violence perpetrated on 7 October, and the devastating conflict that has followed, continue to impact people and communities across the world. On this first anniversary my thoughts and prayers are with all Israeli and Jewish people, including those who are our neighbours in the Diocese of Chelmsford.

"I join with many others in repeating the call for the release of the hostages and for renewed diplomatic efforts to bring peace and work towards reconciliation and justice for all."

The Rt Rev Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani,

Bishop of Chelmsford
