On Wednesday 2nd April Bishop Guli met with farmers to gain first-hand insights into the impact of the autumn budget and recent withdrawal of the Sustainable Farming Incentives on the farming communities of the Diocese.

The visit to Spencers Farm, Magdalen Laver, courtesy of farmers Rosemary and Robert Padfield, included a round-table discussion and individual conversations over lunch. Robert also provided Bishop Guli with a tour of the farm on a tractor.
Agricultural Chaplain, Revd Canon Janet Nicholls said,
“It was a day when farmers were able to share their deepest concerns for the future of their farms and rural community life in our Diocese. The discussions highlighted the essential role of our rural clergy and church communities in providing an informed listening ear and pastoral care for farmers over the coming months. There was clear appreciation for Bishop Guli’s commitment to raising their concerns in the House of Lords.”
